SAG (Screen Actors Guild) represents actors working in filmed media.


AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) represents performers in TV, radio and daytime soap operas.


AEA (Actors' Equity Association) is a union for stage actors and stage managers.


AGVA's (American Guild of Variety Artists) members perform in shows such as the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.


In the past few years, several states have enacted changes to child labor laws.


In September 2003, Governor George Pataki signed the Child Performer Education and Trust Act. New York is currently considering an amendment to the bill, strengthening certain core provisions.


In July 2005, Governor Kathleen Blanco of Louisiana signed SB 158, making trust accounts and on-set education the law of the state.


Discussions are underway in the state of New Jersey to pass legislation similar to provisions in the New York bill.
