Working children are required to maintain a "C" average or better in their academic subjects in order to qualify for a California work permit.
New York State requires proof of "satisfactory academic standing," in order for a child performer to obtain a state work permit.
Parents are responsible for helping their children balance academic commitments and contractual obligations. Families should make every effort to foster cooperative relationships with their children’s schools in order to make this balance possible.
